I have been in Chile for one semester and after all I can say that my stay there made me learn a lot about myself. When I first arrived, I couldn"t speak a word of Spanish which made my stay somewhat hard, especially due to the fact that Chilenos have there own language which can be sometimes quiet different than the Spanish you can study in books. Thankfully, my contact persons at the university were really helpful and I soon got to know a lot of other students who did everything to make me feel at home and comfortable in their country. The education on the other hand is in my opinion not yet comparable to what we are used to in Germany. For example you are allowed to talk during tests and no one really cares if you are there at all. But perhaps I just have been lucky because I picked the right courses and professors. In any case everyone acted more than friendly with me. The best experience I had was definitely with my classmates who were always there and listened and helped me understand the material. Some of them I would really call friends now and I am already looking forward to seeing all of them again when I once come to visit Chile.
